Groupwise Archive

Archive Errors

D10f, C022, C067 are all usually archive related issues. Follow the steps outlined below to rebuild your archive.

Archive FAQ's

  • Messages are archived after 30 days.
  • Appointments are archived after 90 days.
  • Archive directory is C:\data\messages\ofxxxarc where "xxx" represents the users FID (File ID) number.
FID The FID number can be obtained by selecting HELP/ABOUT GROUPWISE, and making note of the three digits within parenthesis next to the username.

Rebuilding Archive

Try this if messages in Mailbox are over 30 days old and/or user can not open archive

Rebuild the archive by holding down the CNTL + SHIFT key and then selecting OPEN ARCHIVE. You will be prompted to rebuild the mailbox, select YES. If archive will still not open, contact the Help Desk at x87600. If the rebuild is successful, exit GW and restart.  Messages (over 30 days old) should start archiving within a few minutes.

Rebuild Archive

It is also possible that the oldest message in the mailbox (or folders) is hanging the archive process. Try archiving the oldest message manually by highlighting it and selecting ACTIONS, ARCHIVE. If it does not archive, this is the source of your problem. Delete the message, exit GW5 and restart. The remaining messages (over 30 days old) should start archiving within a few minutes.

Cannot find previously archived messages.

Some users may have multiple archive directories. To combine them, unarchive everything in the smaller of the two archives, reset the archive path to the directory you wish to keep and let the messages rearchive themselves.

Archive MoveNOTE: Select NO when prompted "Do you want to move the contents of your existing archive?" If you select Yes, the existing archive will be overwritten.
