Download Instructions:

Note that this involves downloading approximately 65 Megabytes. If you are using a modem to access the internet, we recommend you check out the Groupwise CD available at the campus library.

Check Hard Drive free space.

  • Locate the "My Computer" icon (usually located in the upper left corner of your PC screen).   Double-click it to see all your drives.
  • Select the C:\ drive and then right click it and select Properties from the drop-down box.
  • The "General" tab on the window will tell you how much free space you have on your drive.  You need over 65 MB free disk space.  If you have less than this, you will be unable to install Groupwise on your system at this time.

Close all running programs & click on the GroupWise Client Download Link at bottom of this page.

You should get the above screen. Select "Save this program to disk" and click OK.

Browse to your desktop and save the file there. This is a small file that should download in just a few seconds.

Select Close and look for the setupip.exe icon on your desktop.

Double click the setupip.exe icon to start the Groupwise install.

You should now see the following window.  This means that the GroupWise installation files are downloading to your workstation. This process may take some time depending on your connection speed.

Should you have problems during the download, you may encounter the above screen.  Select either option and then OK to continue.

Groupwise will now begin to install. Depending on the configuration of your pc, a component called Windows Messaging may need to be installed. If so you will get the following screen.

Select OK to restart. If you have a permanent internet connection, the Groupwise install will pick up where it left off. If not, connect to the internet again and double click the SetupIP.exe icon on your desktop again to resume installation.

Once installed, a Groupwise icon will be placed on your desktop. Double-click to open Groupwise. All connection information except for your UserID and Password should be present. If not, enter the following information in the corresponding fields:

- Online Address: gwmail.swmed.edu
- Port: 1677
