Daylight Saving Time
In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy
Policy Act, which changes the dates of both the start and end of
daylight saving time (DST) for 2007.
Daylight Saving Time will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M.
on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00
A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than the usual schedule.
Many applications that involve scheduling, such as Epic and GroupWise,
depend on user workstation settings for time zone and daylight saving
time information when creating, sending, and accepting appointments.
If workstations are not patched, appointments in the new additional
DST range from March 11, 2007 through April 1, 2007 will be off
by one hour. In the case of email appointments, both sender and
recipient machines must be patched. This also applies to the added
DST range from October 28, 2007 to November 4, 2007.
